Carole Howe Evans is a native of Utah. She grew up in South Cottonwood, an area surrounded by open fields and pastures with majestic mountains as a backdrop. A love and respect for the land developed during these years characterizes her landscapes. The rural areas she loves to paint are quickly being replaced with housing and commercial property developments. The paintings are a reminder of the beautiful landscape in the West.
While attending Utah State University as a Freshman, Carole registered for drawing and painting classes. After transferring to the University of Utah as a Sophomore, more art classes were part of her schedule. Professors Alvin Gittens, George Dibble and Doug Snow were such an inspiration and support that she continued her art studies and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting. The study of drawing and painting continued with classes in San Francisco and workshops with outstanding artists.
Carole has received a number of awards for her work, including recent awards from the Utah Arts Council and the Utah Women Artists Exhibition. Her works appear in private, public and corporate collections throughout the United States. Her works sell between $500 to $5000.
ARTIST STATEMENT
"Nature is my untiring world of inspiration. Painting is a celebration of life, and an ongoing process of learning I welcome in my life. Applying paint to a blank canvas or paper is both challenging and exciting. Each painting is a new experience taking on a life of its own. Orchestrating a painting is incorporating everything I know about painting while infusing part of myself in the final outcome. It is my hope that through my paintings a time or place can be revisited again and again, bringing pleasure to those viewing them."
